In Moulay Bouzerktoun some 25 k. north of Essouira,
the mosque overlooks the beach and the Atlantic.
High on the cliff, there is a little cafe where you can watch the tide encroaching and retreating...
and see the traditional fishing boats. The amazing blue is used on the boats and also many of the doors and window frames in this part of Morocco. I don't think it has a particular name but someone may well correct me.
One of my favorite Atlantic beaches in the world.

My sister, Kathie, says the blue is called Majorelle. She visited Morocco last year and said the blue was incredible.
Funny - I am listening to Moroccan music as I click on this. I was there in November 2009 and have so many similar photographs as I see in your blog. That blue is unforgettable.
Great photography!
I can almost hear the sound from the breaking waves, and smell the coffee on the small café.
Pat:Yes, the lovely blue may well be Blue Majorelle.
Majorelle was a French artist who painted in Morocco in the early mid 20th century.
My guess is that he copied an already existing traditional blue.
However it got its name it is very lovely indeed!
Thanks for your kind comment.
Absolutely beautiful pictures and blog! I love it! Following now and will be back soon to see more pictures and read more! :-)
