Three Generations

Three Generations, originally uploaded by schmidwix2.

Taken on rue riad zitoune
djedid. One of the more charming back streets where I walked almost every day on my way to the fruit market.

The old men are watching the world go by.

The young man is working, and the little boy is in a great hurry.

Anyone interested in everyday life in Marrakesh should scroll around on the blog and even go back in time.

My friend Maryam has a much more wonderful, glamorous and exciting Marrakech blog here

Beautiful blog and very deserving of being a Blog of Note. After my tour here I can understand how you would miss this beautiful place so much that it aches inside you. Thank you for sharing your sweet and exotic memories here (the pink wall with the white door is my favorite shot, followed by the cups of hot chocolate and coffee at the marketplace).

Lovely photo. In fact, lovely photos throughout your blog. I love splashes of brilliant colours you've captured in them. Too bad you won't be experiencing Marrakech anymore right?

It's funny that this is the first time I've checked out the "Blogs of Note" and it's of a place I had just visited a few weeks ago and blogged about myself. Of course I only had six days there so I was able to tour a bit more through your pictures!
Congratulations and thanks.

What a great picture. Not only is composition interesting, but the content underscores so much of what is important in arab culture. Family, respecting your older generations, community, tradition... that rug, too, was probably crafted by someone whose family has been weaving rugs for generations, a skill set that's passed down from father to son, and mother to daughter. I'm Indian, and have lived in Bahrain, and can attest to the similarities between arab culture and my own. And I've been in Canada for the past decade or so, and I love that I've had enough influence from all 3 cultures (Indian, Arab, North American) in my life that I can take the best from all of them and practice life as a citizen of the world! I wonder if you have a similar experience, seeing Marrakesh culture the way you do? Because it's not like you're just seeing it and going 'oh, okay', but you're taking snippets of it and documenting it and able to see it through a different lens than someone else might.
