Blue, because the city of Essouira is situated on the Atlantic Ocean (around 200km south of Casablanca)... The wall or fortress surrounding the city and still displaying the canons was built by the Portuguese. Essouira is like many other cities in the north of Morocco, for example Larrache and Asila... where all the doors are painted in blue as well... I believe these influences or characteristics were introduced by the Spanish and Portuguese during their colonization of some part of Morocco... Spain is still colonizing two Moroocan cities in the north: Ceuta and Melilia. Elizabeth, you are showing how rich and diverse is Morocco... Thanks again
