Blue Doors/Essouira

Moulay Bouzerktoun is a small village about 25km north of Essouira.
Unlike in Marrakesh where the walls are pinkish, on the coast here the houses
are mostly white and the doors are blue.

 In Essouira itself.

More of the same......

and even more....

Hi, Elizabeth-

in Feng Shui you have to decorate your entrance in blue... like water- that the luck and much money flow into your house... maybe they have the same reason?

It looks great- I like it!

Blue, because the city of Essouira is situated on the Atlantic Ocean (around 200km south of Casablanca)... The wall or fortress surrounding the city and still displaying the canons was built by the Portuguese. Essouira is like many other cities in the north of Morocco, for example Larrache and Asila... where all the doors are painted in blue as well... I believe these influences or characteristics were introduced by the Spanish and Portuguese during their colonization of some part of Morocco... Spain is still colonizing two Moroocan cities in the north: Ceuta and Melilia. Elizabeth, you are showing how rich and diverse is Morocco... Thanks again
