Floors Galore...........and an Ending

Until I started looking through all my recent photos, I didn't realize how many pictures of floors I had. So this is a selection.
The first from the Bahia Palace - my shabby-chic heaven.

The second, as you can guess from the color of the window frames, is from an exhibition space just off the main square in Essouira.

This one with neutral, herringbone tiles contrasting with the bright, traditional ones on the walls, is from a friend's house in the medina of Marrakech.

This rather swanky marble is from Marrakech Plaza, a new shopping center in Gueliz with fountains, Etam, Zara, and all sorts of other shops and restaurants including MacDonalds..............

This turtle lives in the grounds of the Hotel Andalous in Hirvenage and wanders round near the swimming pool. We went there for lunch the other day pretending to be tourists. The doorman wore traditional costume - a red fez ,white loose trousers and a cloak. I asked if I could take his photo but when he said, "Two euros," I decided not to bother. We tried four taxis before we found one who admitted to having a meter. The driver and his companion laughed when we told them ( in Arabic) that all the other taxi drivers were mechant/bad/naughty........

We are lucky enough to have wonderful friends who know how to live well.
Last Friday we went to The Grand Cafe de la Poste with Chris and Maryam. This is our favorite restaurant in Gueliz. The food is delicious and the decor exquisite........the eau de nil green on the doors is subtly chic. In fact everything there is chic.

A little, rather skinny kitten climbs steps towards the garden at the Bahia Palace.

We left Morocco with great sadness last Saturday morning for an extended stay in the US, so, although this blog will continue for about a week more with file photos and stuff I didn't manage to fit in before, this is essentially an ending.
There are various reasons for this move but mostly to do with family. Robert's mother is 86 after all.
I'm already missing the bustle of the medina, the fresh orange juice, our friends, the COLORS.
I'm sure we will be back before too very long...........I know we will.
Most people come to this blog for exotic and lovely Marrakech - the star of the show - but anyone wanting to follow our tamer exploits here might want to go to our other blog "About New York".

In some ways, it is sad this stage in your life is over! I have so loved meandering all the colours in your blog.

But keep this blog alive! Maybe reflect sometimes! It has been so wonderful! And yes! I am sure many will follow you to your other blog!

Happiness always!

How colorful the floors and pavements are there! But I am sad you will be stopping this blog...I have enjoyed every visit seeing a place I've never been to before and learning so much. But your reasons for returning to the USA are very understandable and good. I hope so much you will return to your beloved Marrakesh...In the meantime though, I look forward to your New York adventures! Happy Days to you all ((HUGS)) If you get a chance, stop by my place soon, I'm having a little gift giveaway! :o)

Thanks for showing me around Morocco. I know you will find beauty and some colors wherever you are, though Marakesh is particularly spectacular. At rate I've only been through New York, never really to it, so I look forward to your other blog. Take care of yourself.

No one does floors quite as nice as the Moroccans in my humble opinion!

Yes - the floors are pretty universally spectacular. I love decorative detail.

Your eye is so good that I'm sure you will find comparable things to delight you (and us) in NY.

Life is always changing, isn't it...

You are leaving! I had no idea.
I will really miss the wonderful photos and tales told here.

Oh no I haven't visited for a long time and now you've gone :( I will miss your lovely colours and insights into a different world.

It must be a wrench to leave such a beautiful place but knowing you will return must make it just a little easier?

I will find you in the US I guess!

OH thank you, thank you for letting me "live" a bit in Marakesh with you!

I have elderly parents as well, and understand the pull between blood and places of the heart.

I've never lived in NY. Guess my turn is coming up, via YOU!

Noooooooo! How very sad! I've so enjoyed this blog, so a big thanks for sharing the beautiful sights of Marrakech. Marrakech may have been the star of the show, but you've been a first rate director! For me, it has always been about the way you have presented Marrakech. Your unique style. Your vision. Your eye for detail. Yes, I'll miss this blog, but I'm also looking forward to your new adventures in New York. I've always had a fascination with all things New York, so the opportunity to now experience it through your eyes is very exciting. It's going to be wonderful! Bring it on!

Oh & thanks for the fab Floor Show!

See you in New York :)

Elizabeth, it has take me a few days to get up the nerve to comment here. I just wanted to go into denial about it....I was so ....crushed....to read that you are leaving Marrakesh. Verging on panic...where will I now get my Morocco fix on a much needed daily basis? You leave me no choice...I must move there myself!

But seriously, I am very saddened that your blog with all its fab photos is coming to an end.... but let's not say end...never say never....

I will be checking back, and hope that your reserve photos last for a very long time. Then, I hope you return to the rosy city....

I will be visiting your ny blog, but it won't be the same. How sad it must have been for you to leave Marrakesh....I understand your reasons, but still, it's an enchanted place and I thank you for sharing so much of it with us on your beautiful, special blog.

Oh Elizabeth (can you tell I'm catching up on your blog), it must be disappointing to leave a city of such color and vibrancy. But, as you know, with every ending, there are also beginnings. You strike me as very wise, and so must already know this ... I would love to keep updated on your "tamer" adventures in New York ... however, just let me thank you for your lovely shots of Morocco - many of which have truly just taken my breath away :) Best wishes,
Roxanne
