This is more like silhouette Sunday. See Hey Harriet's super blog.
I'm still cheating. Claudia took this shot of the sun setting behind the fishing boats in Essouira - our favorite seaside/fishing town.
The town faces towards the West and everyone gathers near the sea wall to watch the sun sinking into the Atlantic.
It's always rather lovely, and for some reason the wind seems to drop when the sun goes down.
I wonder if there is some clever explanation of this?

Very atmoshperic, so quiet, I can feel the absence of the wind.
Ooooh yeah! I can understand why this would be a favourite seaside town of yours with views like this! This sure is a stunning photo that Claudia took.
I'm just about to do the SSS post for this week, so I'll add your link once it's up :)
That is a stunning shot! Beautiful!
Another beautiful shot! Love it to the max!
That is a good question about the wind..b/c it is surprisingly fierce. My kids and dog have gotten whipped in the face many times. : )
Ooooh, that's gorgeous...cheating or not! It looks incredibly still, with a mesmerizing glow.
Stunning! A wonderful and atmospheric shot!! Way to go Claudia!!
Beautiful.
You must miss this place so much. When are you going back?
thanks for sharing it Elizabeth!
Silhouettes are shadows with more substance! I love this pic!
I love all Claudia's photos. Really lovely!

Yes, I agree, stunning is the word.
This is your blog you can cheat anytime you want :-).
The clever answer is that the relative temperatures of the earth and water change and then the air movement changes. (Aren't I the knowledgeable scientist??)
I love to go to the Pacific and watch the sun set there!
Wonderful photo!
such a peaceful shot, thanks for sharing such a far away place
Oh thank you Elizabeth. I adore anything nautical. The citrus tones in this pic appeal too---they go well with your page background colour.
What a beautiful shot..Very peaceful looking.
Oh wow, this is just beautiful, you can't get much better than a sunset!!
Beautiful silhouette!
Willow: so clever to know about the drop in the wind!
All: Thank you for all your kind comments.
Greyscale:what an excellent idea!
I can get to your blog but can't leave comments.
I wonder why not?Because I'm a mac user?

I don't kow where to look first, Elizabeth......here or New York.
Morocco is a dream trip for me.....as are your photos.
New York is always there. Thanks.
That's a stunning shot - and especially against the deep yellow background of your blog.
I saw one photography search engine with all kind of photos & tatoo– about 6 million!

Great sunset, stupendous colours!
(Please, continue cheating, I love lingering a little longer here! Thank you, Claudia.)
Essaouira or should I say Mogador is my favorite city in Morocco!
Hello, Elizabeth!
After I posted on your NYC site, I had to leave the house and am just checking this site out. I also saw that you commented on my blog. Thank you.
First, we were in Tangier in September. . . .beautiful place. Our guide took us to his home, and I fell in love with it. We never would have imagined how beautiful his home was just by looking at the outside.
I checked out your profile, also. I read your book and loved it. How wonderful. I have always written (did corp comm for years) and decided to do literary nonfiction. Am I stupid?? :-)
This is an absolutely wonderful photo. x
Lovely picture with warm colours Here the wind drops at night as well, never wondered why.

Fabulous pic! Love the colour and lighting..VERY nice..thanks for your kind comments on my blog..I will be back to explore yours further soon (I'm supposed to be at work LOL) :D
