Shadow Shot Sunday
Shadow Shot Sunday again. See Hey Harriet for a list of participants.
Pictures by my daughter Claudia Schmid.
The mosque at Diabat just outside Essouira. This small village is being altered out of all recognition to make a resort with golf courses and so on. Bulldozers are razing the hill.
A pity.
They want to make it into "TheSt.Tropez of Morocco."
The amazing Portuguese water cistern in El Jadia another coastal town.
This site was used by Orson Wells in his Othello which is a very strange film.
Cafe Hafa just outside Tangiers - where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean.

Wonderful photos from Claudia! Love the water cistern shot the best. That's such a shame about the development. Resorts with golf courses! Ick! How awful! Tangiers? Is that the place where all those beat writers from the 60s would frequent? ...maybe not. Maybe I'm muddled up. Often happens :)
That 2nd pic is almost surreal! Love the unusual colour meltings in it!
I too feel for the razed village. I always feel that somehow the ancient spirit of place is being burnt!
Beautiful pictures/shadows..Very interesting..
Beautiful, exotic shadow, even their names conjure up fantasy.

The water in this last shot looks soooo inviting!
Beautiful! Especially love the pic of Cafe Hafa! :D
Shame about the small village being made into a resort. Almost every new development here in the South is adding golf courses!
Lovely, lovely photos.

The beauty of your site always encourages me to pause and drink in the new and different, while marvelling at the familiar joy at gazing on beauty that needs no atlas or translation. Before happening upon your site I "knew" Morocco through such a limited lens. Thank you for embracing the beauty of the ordinary in such a way that it is celebrated as extraordinary. Truly your site is an oasis.
Beautiful photos, especially the last one. That one could be framed and sold!
I must see more photos of that cistern....I love cisterns...
All absolutely stunning pictures. We've got lots of mosques here..I have never seen one like the first picture before. All Claudia's pictures are very stunning...it'll take ages for me to catch up or probably never will. Happy week ahead :D
The pictures are great but the second one is absolutely magical I love it. Have a great day
As always beautiful pictures!!
I have an award for you on my blog

Wonderful photos !! But you all very artistic !
Gorgeous photographs! What a magical place that Portuguese water cistern is... Your daughter certainly knows how to take fabulous photos.
It'll be a sad day when Essaouira gets too commercialized. : ( I don't want to think about it.
love the pics.
