People

We have been without people in this blog for almost a week. Hm......
This first picture shows the contrasts we see every on rue Dabachi.
The older man is very traditionally and elegantly dressed and the young man is most up to date.

Here some young women sweep past Cafe France.
Two have covered their hair and one hasn't. I think it's good that it seems to be an individual's own choice.

This shot was taken at the bus stop in Gueliz near the post office.
Note McDonald's on the other side of the road. A very popular spot.
On a Saturday evening, the crowd spills out onto the street and it's almost impossible to get past.

I took this picture of an older man with his wonderful cape from the aforementioned McDonald's. We have only been there once. I am sorry to say, I enjoyed it.

Does McD's taste the same?

We found in Indonesia that BK or Pizza Hat just wasn't exactly the same.

Love the women's clothes and that wonderful white cape the man is wearing.

Hello Elizabeth, and thank you for your kind comments.

I am also glad that visitors to you beautiful page may drift over to view mine.

These pictures each contain many stories. They are so well framed, and your commentary adds to my curiosity to learn more about Marrakesh.

I loved the posting about the four-legged transport options. I am trying to imagine the traffic considerations. Is there some code that all follow, involving various signals, or does it just sort of flow?

Very interesting to see the contrast between young and old. No surprise to see a McDonalds, they seem to have world domination! x

I like the hats on the men. Could you one day do a series on the hat?

In answer to some of your questions:
Willow:
The McDonalds tastes EXACTLY like it does everywhere. I have the fish thing. The fries are the same too!
Frances:
I'm afraid there is no 'system' whatsoever to the traffic!! Each man/woman/beast for itself.
Hats:
An excellent idea for a post.
Actually the men seem to have better hat options - and some pretty stylish ones.
I'm rather keen on fezes myself - but they are referred to as 'tarboosh's.
Turbans etc. can look very exotic.
Makes baseball hats look pretty dull.

Elizabeth, the pictures of the women are exactly how our Malay women wear their costume, afterall Malaysia is a muslim country. Nice to know and very interesting :)

How interesting that McDonald's is so popular. And it was striking to see it along with all the traditional dress in your photo.

Good Lord, is there anywhere Macdonalds does not get to?

What has McDonald's become? The identity is not so much as a fast food restaurant, but more as a sign of progress and modernity (or post-modernity). I find the idea of a McDonald's everywhere I could go both comforting and unnerving. Interesting.
