A Different Marrakech
Yesterday we were invited out to tea in rather a different part of town than our rather gritty neighborhood.
There, the terrace looked out onto the walls of a magnificent garden.
Everything was sleekly moderne -even the sugar basin shaped like an egg.
It was hard to remember we were in Marrakech - except for the wonderful colors.
There is something refreshing about raw, clean space, without lots of fiddly, decorative things.
Here our luminous hostess, Sarah of the enchanting blog Passementerie, who is usually to be found in Paris discovering exquisite things.
You can tell we are still in Marrakech from the floor tiles and the fruit bowl made from a recycled tire.

Wow! What a beautiful house!
Lovely. I sometimes like very clean uncluttered spaces too. Meditative. Fruit bowl from tire is great.
Something very peaceful about the minimal atmosphere. What are those strange little things on the plate you are having for tea?
Willow:
They were the most delicious apricot tarts - looked weird - were divine.
Now I am feeling very jealous that you all are hanging out together and I am in stuck in New York! May I suggest a tea party in Brooklyn sometime?
Elizabeth,
This is a lovely blog. I love the respect of this beautiful culture. Thank you for sharing your time here and bringing delightful inspiration too.
Also, thank you for your comment on my blog today!
How marvelous to see two blogs that I enjoy converge in some way in Marrakesh! :-)
Lovely, clean colours.
And what a great idea with the recycled tyre :-)
Elizabeth...your photos are fascinating...It is all so different than what I am accustomed to, however I find it quite lovely....all of it..
The old gentleman on the way to prayers...the staircase...just very nice indeed....
Hi Elizabeth! Great post with some lovely pictures; love the colours and the sharp forms... Actually, the colours are wonderful all around your blog!
Thanks for your comment on Blogtrotter, where I’m still around Rabat, but preparing to move to Casablanca… Coming close!
Hope you have a great weekend!
Oh, I do love that house! Clean, simple lines. It makes me want to run through my house and throw out every third object!
The fruit bowl was made from a recycled tire? That is green at its best! I would love to be a minimalist. But I live with too many people, I think. :)
That's a Philippe Starck Louis Ghost chair (the one in black).
Mmmmmmm.
(Quite rightly imo a design that has gone round the world.)
Very very nice, so much colour everywhere...its lovely even in those muted, soothing tones.
You really do find yourself in the most interesting places...
P.s. Those stairs in the last photo..don't they need a handrail....or are they not as steep as they appear in the pic?
Nice colourful place
