Went up to Gueliz on the bus to get supplies from the supermarket.
The medina is wonderful for fruit and vegetables.
Beer is another story.
Opposite Acima, the supermarket, is a Shell petrol station with a jacaranda tree in front of it.
On the roof we have a tiny bit of color too.
Some impatiens that self-seeded in a palm tree pot.
This should have been a red hibiscus - but when it opened two years ago turned out to be pink.

beautiful flowers...i am a big fan of hibiscus, i had a huge one that i accidentally left outside on a cold night, it never recovered. :(
the top picture is stunning with the lavender flowers against the colorful buildings.
Fabulous colors!!! wow! Not quite the drab grocery store experience of the midwest. :)
Oh, the PURPLE DEATH of jacarandas. We have one in our yard and it must be the most popular tree in town, because it seems like we are in a sea of purple right now. I have developed quite an allergy to them and was miserable for two weeks. It is just letting up.
Love the purple trees though. It is like being in a fantasy land.
I was going to post about them, but I got so mad about the stuffy head that I nixed it. Ha Ha.
Frank:
I never knew jacarandas could cause allergies!
What a nightmare.
Hope you feel better soon.
Wonderful photos!!!
It seems like each year my reaction to it gets a little worse. The pollen only last a few weeks though. Right when they all start to bloom.
The pictures are wonderful. Here in Indiana it is starting to get warm. I was able to work out in the yard for the first time yesterday. The thing that I don't like the most is that the sun doesn't shine much from November thru March here. I miss it very much.
The Jacaranda mixes so well against the background, lovely!
I've now turned the first photo into my computer desktop wallpaper. (So long, for now, to the Huntington Garden scene)... Love that combination of colours...it has a painterly effect.
Beautiful colours. I love pink.
The colors in that first shot, set against your blog background, are stunning!
I thought for sure that the top photo was a painting. It's beautiful.
How are you? Back home I suppose.
Very beautiful! I don't think I've ever seen a jacarandas--they're gorgeous!
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for visiting my blog. That jacaranda tree is beautiful. I have had them mentioned in books but that is the first time I have seen one in bloom. Stunning!
I have never seen a Jacaranda in flower. How stunning.Sara tells me that there is a whole row of them at the bottom of her road and she will post when they are in flower next month.
Elizabeth, I posted some pics of the jacarandas in San Miguel. Allergies are fading.
Have a peak.
The first time I saw a Jacaranda tree for real, was in Portugal. The flowers are such an amazing colour. x
