Settling Back In

Lots to do on our arrival.
But the ancient white cat on the roof is there to greet us, as is Ismail.
In our absence they stopped taking phone bill payments at the Post Office.
So I went off to Maroc Telecom in the medina first thing this morning where I discovered they now give out numbers like in a deli. This is a great improvement from standing around indefinitely.
I was number 7, so the whole thing was relatively painless.
The old post office is still being 'improved' and looks quite good so far.

After Maroc Telecom, I went to Sherazade to say we were back and need Ghislan to come to help us clean.
There must have been a great sandstorm while we were away and everything is under a thick film of sand.......
However, the oranges, glimpsed through a school yard wall, look delicious.

Same old pink walls - same interesting wiring........
At home the internet still works. This is very thrilling.

I pass by the Palm Tree Cafe.........."Waha" pretty much means that.

And head home through Djemma ElFna where they are unloading all the fresh fruit and vegetables that we've been missing.
But since we are defrosting the fridge we are holding off buying stuff.

I hope all goes well as you settle back into your Moroccan abode. You seem to be right on top of things already. I especially love that glimpse of the orange tree. Oh, to see an orange tree right in front of you, what joy!

I'm looking forward to all your new photos. Best of luck now that you are back in Maroc!

Regards,
Lavinia

Glad you have phone and internet. I don't think I can live without either. :-) TV, I can do without!

Love the oranges growing on the tree. Do they belong to the school? Are you allowed to pluck them off the tree for some OJ in the morning?

Oh, if you want more "professional" advice on getting a larger/wider format for the photo, contact Denton of Greenville, SC. He has helped many a blogger with technical information.

Welcome home(well to one home anyway :-), thanks for the lovely photos.

Mm. Noticed the tyles on top of the sign. You see those exact tyles all over Andalucia in southern Spain. Must have been the Moorish influence all those hundreds of years ago.

Wow, #7, lucky you.
Those who pay utility bills by check won't realize how lucky that was.
Glad to hear you made it all the way home.

Hate to be a know-all, but the Waha as in the name of the café means (surprise, surprise) Oasis as it is correctly translated. Wa"ch"a ("ch" pronounced as in Loch in Scottish) as in "OK", would have a dot on top of the "ha" letter (the middle one......)...
Glad you're back safely and looking forward to seeing you - am arriving on 24th.
Joan (OK, call me a swot!!)

Oh no, it doesn't actually say Oasis, sorry somehow I hallucinated .... but the palm tree gives you a clue!!!

Do the colors shock you when you return home? That's what I'm beginning to notice now when I come and go from our version of the desert. Colors, in all their variations and intensities are startling to me.

The wiring on that pink wall...horror! The fact that you have internet with that...amazing!

You seem to have slipped right back in Marrakesh mode! ;-) I was thinking of you today while sitting in a cafe' here in Vienna. I think when you'll see the pictures, you will understand why.
