Pink Walls
I'm still feeling pink in honor of Valentine's Day.
This first picture was taken on derb Dabachi one late afternoon.
The old man was helping a young man fix his bicycle.
This one is up in Gueliz - the newer part of town.
This wall between Douar Groua and rue riad Zitoune djedid. The whole street has walls like abstract paintings.
This is a little further down the same street.
I have changed my icon from an Italian picture to a Moroccan one.
This painting is by Motisi an amazing Marrakshi artist who has a shop near the mellah Market. I have showed his pictures before - maybe last December.

I think it's funny that people pay thousands of dollars to have their walls painted to look mottled and distressed like these beauties!
Is there any pink in NY? I miss NY!
P: yes - the 'shabby-chic' look is very popular nowadays but in Marakech we get it anyway without all the effort.........
it's a constant battle to keep the walls painted and looking good.
we understand now why there is so much tile - it's much more durable.
Kate: Not much pink in NY as you guessed........
Pale soft pink, beautiful!
I like your new icon. :-)
Hi Elizabeth, I'm loving all this pink....and not just any pink either...special Marrakeshi pink. I noticed the new painting in your profile right away, thank you for telling us about it in your post; I was going to ask.
I have a pink cinder block wall around my back yard that's a similar shade, but not half so interesting or pretty as these Marrakeshi photos.
The shadow in the first photo resembles a Norwegian church.....
Lovely pictures these.... somehow the light there seems to give the colours a much more alive rich feeling...
I love things that are a bit old and worn and mottled :)
Beautiful as usual. And I like your icon, too! Very nice.

I, too, noticed your new painting immediately. My eye was drawn right to it.
The pinks are all shades and they're wonderful. Marrakesh has pink, Rome has gold, Ireland has green, Los Angeles? brown, I guess!
What a great idea--to show photos with some pink--for Valentine's Day! Very fun!
I am loving all the pink here lately--my favorite color! Your new icon is terrific--very lively and festive. Happy Valentine's Day ((HUGS))
I Love the patina on this wall, this pink is so special !!!wonderful
Once in the pink, always in the pink...
1st and 3rd photos are great !!
My best Mediterranean wishes to you
Lala
These walls could be here in San Miguel. I can't say how much visiting you blog makes me want to visit Marrakesh.
